Police Car Overturns in High-Speed Chase of Stolen U-Haul

Arkansas police said they found firearms and molotov cocktails inside a stolen U-Haul van that led police on a dangerous high-speed chase on February 7.

This footage was released by the Tontitown Police Department, who said it joined other agencies just after 5 pm as two men led several agencies on a chase that reached speeds in excess of 120 mph.

The video shows the department performing a tactical vehicle maneuver to end the chase on Interstate 49 in Springdale. The first clip shows one of the police vehicles overturning several times; the officer inside was treated at a local hospital and released with minor injuries, police said.

The second clip shows several police vehicles stopping the car and arresting two suspects, named as Robert Mercier, 21, and Trenton Johnson, 21, both from Michigan. Police said officers found firearms and improvised flammable devices inside the stolen U-Haul van. Four Tontitown vehicles were damaged in the case, as well as vehicles from other agencies.

The suspects were charged with three counts of aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, possession of destructive devices, felony fleeing, battery second degree, four counts of criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and multiple felony charges from other agencies. Mercier and Johnson are also wanted by the Westland, Michigan, authorities for attempting to run over multiple police officers. Credit: Tontitown Police Department via Storyful
